For todays lunch, I selected Cappuccino on Bui Vien. With a name as such, the Italian undertone suggested it would be ideal for pasta which was exactly what I was craving. The menu is vast & varied, plenty of pasta, pizzas, Mexican and other varied fare.
After debating the possible choices, I selected the penne with parmesan, cheddar & blue cheese. The price of 85,000đ is very fair in my view. The pasta arrived at my table about 12 minutes after I ordered. It smelled great & the cheesiness was evident both visually & aromatically. On digging in, I was not disappointed, the dish had a very rich consistency & the cheese became long and stringy as each morsel was ‘forked’ from the bowl. It tasted great & the pasta was perfectly cooked. It is definitely in the top 5 pasta dishes I have had in Vietnam.
The service was ok, I did not think that simply plonking the cutlery down on the table cloth was very graceful. However, given the location & prices you cannot expect much. The staff, like the table cloth, seemed well worn & permanent fixtures.
All in all, great pasta & I will have it again, very soon! Cappuccino receives 4 stars, all due to the very pleasing pasta dish.
