Sin at the cinema

This was to be my first visit to a cinema in Vietnam & I was keen, both to see how it compared & the movie itself, The Amazing Spiderman 2. On purchasing the tickets, for 80,000đ each, we were able to select our seats. That’s a nice touch & not always found in other parts of the world. Tickets in hand, it was off to the snack counter to purchase the prerequisite popcorn & drinks. For 119,000đ one gets a large popcorn & a soft drink, a bit expensive in my view but I presume that’s fair enough considering the low ticket prices.

The seats were very comfortable, the screen was perfectly positioned so there was no hindrance with viewing & as often found in Asia, the volume was set to maximum plus 10db for a truly loud Spiderman. The volume did not matter & the movie was very enjoyable, the fellow patrons clearly enjoyed it & displayed their appreciation. The staff at the cinema were very friendly, polite & clearly well trained. It was certainly an enjoyable evening & one which must be repeated.

Now, you may ask ‘what was the sin’? Well, 20 minutes into the movie, the equipment malfunctioned & the movie ceased. This led to 15 minutes of myself& the rest of the audience being bewildered. It then started again, from the beginning! This resulted in boos & general displays of disapproval. After another halt, the movie resumed from where it had initially stopped. This was really no problem & made the movie experience more interesting. I recommend all to go, although I cannot assure you of such a sin.
