A lot of the French crowd told me about “La Maison jaune” - the yellow house. After doing some google search, I still had no clue what this place was about and where it was, until I actually found out the official name was “Nhà Hàng Ngo"n, on Pasteur street.
The place, as you must have guessed, it is a huge yellow building right off the street. The terrace is nice and wide, but quite noisy. yet the fans create a breeze and a sound wall. Don’t be surprised, this place is full of tourists and expats, and very few locals, but at least all the waiters speak English.
As in any type of Vietnamese restaurant, the concept is to order different dishes and share them all, which I did with the friend who had taken me out here.
Fried spring rolls and fresh rolls, papaya salad, barbecued squid, my all time favorite. It is a great festival of everything you will find in every random tourist place. The salad was great and the squid was super, but the spring fried rolls were too oily, and the fresh rolls were a bit plain, with the filling pork was just fat and it is not so convenient to eat.
It is a great central place to meet, but I am sure that you can do better if you have guests around just for one dinner.
