I have been to Nguyễn Kim on several occasions, most recently to buy a mobile phone. But I still remember my first encounter with them a couple of months back. I had bought an electric cooker but had to return it back to them unopened since I figured out later that my residence already provided one. I was apprehensive about how that encounter will go, given that I spoke no Vietnamese at all. Surprisingly, there was no trouble at all and I got my cash back within a few minutes of explanation and hand gestures. From then on, I have always turned to Nguyễn Kim for all electronic needs.
Their prices are very competitive and generally in the lower range in the market. Additionally they have discounts on severalproducts on a regular basis, and it’s a steal. Spreading across 3 floors, they have almost everything from Televisions, washing machines, refrigerators, household electronic items to mobile phones, laptops and cameras.
My only dissatisfaction with them is, the shop attendants don’t speak much English at all. Though you can get away with hand gestures and writing down numbers most of the times, it is certainly not convenient when you are trying to compare between products. In my last visit, I felt totally helpless deciding between Samsung and HTC models as no one could explain me the specifications clearly. In the end, I noted down the price and came home to check them out online which is extremely inconvenient at times.
So overall, they have good variety of products and helpful staff but their English skills are non-existent which sometimes is frustrating as a buyer. A perfect place to go if you already know what you are going to buy.
