I’d passed this place several times on my way home from work, each time I’d noticed a full house. It was on one of those extra steamy days that I couldn't resist taking one of the few empty tables and ordering my own fruity refreshment.
The place has sufficient motorbike parking and offers carry-out and delivery. The space is cheery, with an open front and an upstairs balcony, which makes for a great spot to observe the constant buzz of motorbikes and foot traffic passing by, especially in the early evening when the spot fills with Vietnamese on their way home from work, meeting with friends.
The menu features a wide range of fresh fruit smoothies, juices, sliced fruit, fruit and yogurt “cocktails,” and ice cream, all very reasonably priced (most in the 15,000-30,000đ). You can order smoothies in a plethora of flavors, including jackfruit, custard apple, avocado and strawberry; and exotic combinations, like melon and green bean or taro and sapodilla. With a friendly, English speaking waiter, it’s easy to request no sugar or milk or add yogurt if you so please. I ordered a strawberry coconut smoothie. Though not as large as I would hope, it was cold and delicious, and for a moment, made me forget how profusely I was sweating.
Other items I noticed, and will surely come back to try included iced tamarind with peanuts (18,000đ), iced cocoa with milk (20,000đ), and fresh milk and coffee (20,000đ).
This is a great spot to fully appreciate the fantastic variety of fresh and delicious fruits this country has to offer. And though I’ve seen many similar kinds of cafes around the city, few seem to do it better, and at such a low price, as Sinh Tố 142. I plan on making this a regular post work chillout spot.
