I was recommended Xu restaurant by a British friend several times and actually fell in love with it after trying their food. The restaurant has an easily recognized simple but elegant look.
Daytime and in the evenings during the weeks it is more focused on the restaurant part, but in the evenings it becomes a nightlife spot with occasional DJs. The interior is European, but the food is authentic Vietnamese cuisine with some of the most wonderful flavors I have ever tried.
I tried their set lunch menu and it turned out really nice. With the three course set, I can say for a luxury restaurant, it is probably the best deal in town. The appetizer was really great, I could choose Canh Chua – Vietnamese sweet and sour seafood soup or Banana Flower Salad. The main dish deserves compliments for the fantastic grilled grouper served with perfect potato puree. My friend had Pad Thai – thick fried noodle with chicken, shrimp and peanuts, it was delicious. You should not miss their desserts as they are really clever by serving their desserts in small spoons so you can try several types. I loved their fruit salad and chocolate brownie.
Xu is a restaurant and lounge bar right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The restaurant menu consists of both modern and traditional Vietnamese dishes. Xu is a very popular spot for both dining out and cocktails with friends in the late evenings.
