All day breakfast time
Sài Gòn Ngon Kitchen is located on a relatively quiet side street of Phạm Ngũ Lão. It is a popular place and is open late. I decided to try it, having witnessed its popularity & on the recommendation of a friend.
I ordered the breakfast at a price of 64,000đ. The breakfast comprises of a fried egg, beans, a pork chop, a baguette, mushrooms and french fries. It was served to me quickly, probably because I was the only customer there. Presentation wise, there is room for improvement, the beans looked tired & the egg yolk had broken. Furthermore, a slice of lettuce was on the plate, this is a pet hate of mine & something I encounter too often in Asia. There is no need to put a slice of lettuce on every dish, especially a breakfast!
The pork chop tasted fine & the egg tasted fresh but the mushrooms had been fried in some oil that resulted in a poor taste. The fries were rather soggy but the baguette had been perfectly warmed & also tasted fresh. I did not finish it, I had expected more consistency in the quality of the components and was disappointed.
For the price, this is worth having. It is a good amount of food but I would be happier paying more & receiving a breakfast that was more enjoyable. 3 stars but I shall return for an alternative dish.
